The French animal-welfare organization L214 releases footage taken from inside the Alès slaughterhouse in southern France in 2015. This slaughterhouse slaughters animals also for Halal meat. The employees are gruesome towards the animals, both during standard slaughter and during Halal slaughter. Fortunately the mayor of the city has closed the slaughterhouse down, now that images from inside the plant have humiliated the city on international television. A veterinarian speaks out, saying that animals suffer in almost all slaughterhouses because the personnel become desensitized and no longer pay attention to the suffering of the animals.
